hi peeps, wassup?
IM BACK FRM MY FOC CAMP LIKE FINALLY!!
the first day was boring because there was alot of waiting here and there and its mostly abt icebreaker games and all thruout. walking around the campus (slopes everywhere), carrying the heavy bags was a great challenge. we didnt check into the room until at night when all the activities for day 1 has ended. they said the hostel is too far frm the place we have games so we are nt gg to walk there and back again. i think its lame because walking ard with our barang barang slows down everything. so we actually ended up wasting more time in that sense. oh well, if i was the organiser, things will be diferent definitely. lol
anyway my og TORCO was one of the smallest among the six grps. there were only 10 gals and 5 guys. i got 3 ogls: 2 gals and 1 guy and 2 student alumnis: 1 gal and 1 guy. its the same pattern in other grps ah. so i can safely say that HSS is mainly female dominant. lol but being small is good because we tend to be closer to each other. after days of bonding and interaction, i think all of my og mates are nice ppl to be with. there were 3 other ppl who i will be seeing in class when sch starts bcos they take econs too. out of the 5 ogls and sas, 4 are frm econs also! power power power~ oh we even won the most bonded og award at the end of the whole camp.
day 1 ended at abt 12am. but i only slept at ard 4am because hall 7 toilets suck. there were only 2 shower cubicles. so u can imagine how long we all have to wait to shower.
day 2 starts early. everyone gotta gather by 830am. after breakfast, we had some field games which are dirty and smelly. there were 6 game stations altogether. 2 grps will compete against each other at every one time.
so at the 1st station, two frm each grp had to run diagonally across a canvas sheet thats full of curry, chilli and tomato sauce at a time. the game programmers will be throwing balls at the side and if any balls hit you, you are out. so the objective of the game is to see which team lasts longer. its really a matter of balancing while dodging your opponents and the balls. if u slipped, u will be part of the disgusting sauce on the sheet. we won.
at the 2nd station, the 2 grps will form a line each. there will be two programmers at the other side of the line holding on to half a watermelon each. we will den take turns to play. each one of us will have to spin 20 rounds before we walk across the canvas sheet full of watermelon spills and people's saliva. when we rch the programmers, we are supposed to bite a big mouthful of the watermelon and den rolled on the canvas sheet to go back to the starting line before the next one can go. whichever team that finishes the watermelon first wins the game. we won.
at the 3rd station, we played captain's ball but it wasnt the usual normal game. instead of a ball, we had to play with orange, papaya, watermelon and rice dumpling. it can get kind of messy when the "ball" hits someone or hits the ground. imagine the juice splashed onto us when the fruits split into halves or even pieces. we lost 1-0.
4th station is nt dirty. its the clothes peg fight. each of us have 4 pegs on the backs of our shirts. the objective is to snatch opponents' pegs while protecting our own. the whole grp wasnt to be messed with. but there was this one girl who's super violent and aggressive. its just a game but she looked as if she's all out to kill. i wasnt the only one. some of my other og mates who came face to face with her share my thots. i was even scratched by her in the process. as expected, we lost that round.
the 5th round is tic tac toe. but its not as simple as the name sounds. we have to use the ping pong bat to bounce and balance the ping pong ball, walk a distance of more than the length of a goal post, stop and hit the ball and see which box the ball land in. whichever team completes the line first wins. we won.
last round is to play the hai dai game. its the normal one we see show luo play on tv. but in this case, the losing team will have to do forfeit. yea we lost. 4 guys had to dig out the costumes frm the garbage bin and then wear it. there were bikinis, g-strings and stockings. they were game enough to do that. they even pose for the cameras! lol that marks the end of field games
after lunch that day, we had pool games. i didnt bring my swimwear so i didnt join the fun. kind of regretted because it looks very fun frm the side ah. but i was thinking even if i brought my swimwear, i also cant help alot because i cant swim. the games require ppl to swim and dive one. so its ok la. at least i didnt hinder the grp. haha
pool games ended before dinnertime. went to the lecture theatre for some sponsored insurance talk. afterwhich, its dinnertime. the highlight of the day starts after dinner. they told us we were having mambo night. so we were all thinking along the lines of a mass dance or something like that. BUT it wasnt what we thot it was.
everyone went back to the lecture theatre and they started to play this movie "thirteen ghosts". their main aim is to scare us before we go for our fright night ah. personally, i think the show is quite nice ah. wasnt as scary as the name implies. some funny parts in there too. so watch it if u guys havent alr done so!
the mambo night started at 10pm but only ended at abt 4am. it takes damn long ah. my turn only came at abt 2am as i was in the last few grps. there were 6 ppl in a grp. most checkpoints required us to go in pairs (1boy and 1girl) but some allowed us to go in a whole grp. overall i think they did a very good job in planning the whole mambo night. this thing isnt new for me. npcc camps always have such night walks. but it was nowhere near as real and interesting as this one.
instead of just walking ard the campus, they made the whole thing into a mystery case. all of us are detectives going to different checkpoints which are the crime scenes or places where we can find the different suspects to find out whether sarah committed suicide or was being murdered. so we are supposed to gather clues, ask witnesses/suspects questions that will help us uncover the truth. of course the places that we have to walk are very dark and the settings were damn real. frm candles to lighted joss-sticks to incense papers to altars to real big sized photo for the funeral setting etc. not forgetting the "ghosts" that were hiding everywhere and den popping out of nowhere to scare us ah.
there's this guy jonathan in my grp who's damn disturbed by such things one ah. he said he never watch horror movies before at all. at the 1st station only, he hurled vulgarities and slapped one of the "ghost" out of natural instincts. haha i think he was really freaked out. i was paired up with this guy john. he's also quite disturbed by such things la. but at least he didnt leave me behind la. well, even if he wanted to, he couldnt la cos i was holding on to his hands tightly throughout the walk. lol and i did scream quite a bit throughout the expedition.
after the mambo night has ended, we went back to our halls. most of us were too tired and lazy to bathe alr. so we hit the beds after packing our bags. we were supposed to check out of the room and bring all our barang barangs when we gather in the morning. i only slept for abt 2 hrs, woke up and took a shower before gathering at 820am.
we had breakfast before heading off for our islandwide amazing race. we left our bags behind as they say transports will bring them over to the next destination which we dont know where at that point in time. my og had lots of fun along the way ah. we didnt really bother if we will win the race or not. we just take everything at our own pace, had litte picnics and enjoying ourselves along the way. whenever we are making too much noise in the public, we use NUS HSS as our shield. lol in the end, my grp was the second last to rch pasir ris costa sands chalet. yeah thats where we slept for the rest of the camps. oh wait, before u start to envy, think abt 20+ ppl sharing one double storey room. its nt that fantastic afterall. we were like sardines in a can when we sleep. haha
night activities were cancelled for day 3 because everyone was worn out by then. each og just stayed in their own rooms to discuss abt the skit and pageant performance that will be performed on the last day. lights off at 2am. time to catch up on our sleep. i had at least 5 hrs of sleep that night.
day 4 breakfast was at 9am. afterwhich, all of us headed to sentosa for beach games. its where i got my face badly sunburnt!! awwww god damnit. i feel that i look like a malay now lor. as of writing, my face has turned frm hot red to black. zzzzzzzz. i regretted not putting on at least 1/4 tube of sunblock. haha. one moment we have to bury everyone in the grp under the sand, the next moment we have to soak ourselves in the water to fill the pail with water. its damn fun ah. u can see alot of teamwork showing. its during games when the grp bonds.
games ended at 4pm. they gave everyone abt 1 hr to wash up and chg to smart casual outfit. when everyone's done, they separated the guys and girls into two sides. everyone will have to pick a no. then they handed out blindfolds and asked everyone to blindfold themselves. then they will start calling out no and pull the guy and girl with the same no together. then we were left to hold each other's hands and stand ard. while waiting, we were supposed to talk to each other and get to know our secret pals better.
my sp was frm jurong jc, happens to be a man utd fan and he's in econs major too. i cant rmb what else we were talking abt. but thruout the bus journey, we were having small little conversations here and there. but i can feel that he's a quiet person like me ah. i didnt like the awkward silence, so i did try to talk a bit. but u know im a quiet person myself too. so ya. haha finally after abt 20-30 mins, we rched our next destination. the programmers told us to remove our blindfolds. he took it out first, mine was like a dead knot i couldnt open. he offered to help and all. haha.
so down the bus, we realised we were at sembawang park ah. before dinner, we still have to go to 4 game stations to play games. but the games here are a little different cos they are designed to make the boy and girl gets real close one. at one of the station, they gave each couple a chocolate waferstick. each of us have to bite onto one end of the waferstick and den walk a distance across and back again. the thing is we have to finish eating the waferstick when we get back. so if u are nt careful enough, u might actually touch your sp's lips or what la. haha
at another station, one couple will have to be blindfolded. den the rest are supposed to give directions and guide the guy towards the girl. then the guy must kiss the girl before we can take out our blindfolds. every couples will have their turns. i was given a peck on my cheek. awwww that goes my FIRST! LOL
for the next game, each couple have to draw a card. that card will determine which body parts we will use to transport the ping pong ball across and back again. mine was back to cheek. wasnt easy la cos he damn tall. at least i was the one using my back, but the ball dropped halfway so we gotta start all over again. this time i decided to be the one using cheek, cos if nt he gotta bend down quite a bit ma. haha managed to succeed on our 2nd try.
the last game was the worst la. cos we were made to hold a small and thin pc of transparent foil. kaya was spread onto both sides of the foils. and den we had to lick clean the kaya together ah. but we were smart enough to come out with strategy. i lick left side, he lick right side. so we wouldnt touch each other's tongue at all. lol but still its very paiseh ah
at last, its dinnertime at some restaurant by the park after all the games. the ambience was good ah. candles litted, with live band playing in the middle, romantic setting just for dating. lol but i think we have finished all topics. din really talk much. he gotta go prepare his pageant item also. so he wasnt ard for sometime after dinner. but he quite gentleman actually. helped me take food, take dessert like what a real date would do ah. and i think he's sweet ah. cos initially he bought chocolates for his sp which is me but the sun in sentosa too hot so he told me the sun melted the chocolates to unbearable state. so when the time came for gift exchanging, i was really surprised when he passed me a present ah. i wasnt expecting it cos he has already explained that his gift is ruined by the sun ma. i dont know when he bought it la but its really nice of him to rebuy one ah. my og ppl all say my sp quite handsome, somemore he's the pageant nominee lor. but anyway the bottomline is that he's alr attached la. so doesnt really make any difference.
went back chalet after that. on the bus, we were sharing all our sp experiences, the good and the bad, the funny and the not so funny. more rehearsals while back in our rooms. we were done at abt 2am. den we had cup noodles as supper after all the hard work. most turned in after supper. but a handful was so full after eating that we didnt feel like sleeping yet. so we sat outside the chalet and continue bonding. its all fun. didnt really care abt not enough slp or what because its alr the last night ar.
the whole morning of day 5 was mainly used to rehearse the skit and pageant item. after lunch, the performance started. cheer fight follows. we really showed our team spirit once again. everyone just gave it their all. we didnt win but we got into the final round. as a result, my voice still kinda sexy now ah. haha
we break camp at ard 4+pm. but i only got home at 10pm. thats cos we went ehub newyorknewyork for dinner. not all went, but 17 is still a big grp. haha. we were making a nuisance of ourselves in the restuarant ah. taking up alot of places which eventually cause the long queue outside. we took many photos both inside and outside the restaurants. making funny poses, totally oblivious to the crowd there ah. lucky nobody complain so we werent chased away by security guards or what ar. not gonna post any pics here because its really alot. anw i dont have them cos i didnt bring my cam. if u guys really wanna see, can go facebook HSS FOC 2008 TORCO group to view. its an open to public. so everyone can just view with or without permission.
i think my grp really damn ONz. they have already planned an outing this thurs. they even got 3 other ogs to join us. its ktv in the afternoon followed by dinner. im not sure how the place is gonna fit in so many ppl. i can imagine that its gonna be very rowdy and chaotic that day. oh well, whatever.
some updates. im allocated to hall 8 which happens to be the same as my dear kim chee la. hopefully her roomie wanna swap with me. den i can stay with her lor. haha can have some fun together. wink wink* i'll be moving in by this week if im going for hall camp which starts this sun. if not i'll be collecting my room keys on 1 aug. oh man sch starting sooooon. so freaking excited
